Open a document in Knowledge to compare the original with the result from a Foundry refinery. The original appears on the left, and Foundry output appears on the right.

Run a refinery

  • List select a document and click the [Run Foundry] button, then choose the refinery you want from the submenu.
  • Document detail view select a refinery in Foundry output and click the [Run] button.
Running a refinery extracts and chunks the document, and the result appears in Foundry output.

The top of Foundry output shows the connected refinery and the number of chunks it created.

Extracted and normalised text

Expand extracted / normalised text to check the refined text before it is split into chunks. Check whether headings, tables, and paragraphs were extracted correctly from the original.

Chunks

Expand chunks to check the list of chunks used by retrieval. The dropdown at the right of the header selects which version you see.
  • Blob: the original bytes and extracted text, as is.
  • Vector: the indexed version. A banner above the list shows how many chunks are embedded out of the total.
Expand a chunk row to read the full text. Use the [Expand all] button to open all chunks at once, and use Search chunks to find the content you need. Each row shows the chunk number, status, preview, and character count.
If a chunk is missing or split awkwardly, compare it with the original on the left. If needed, adjust the refinery in Foundry, then run it again.

Run a refinery again

Select the refinery name at the top to choose another refinery in the workspace. To refine the document again with the selected refinery, click the [Re-run] button. When the run finishes, Foundry output changes to the new result. Running a refinery again does not change the original file.

Review proposals

If there are documents that need review, the [Review (N)] button appears to the left of the [New file] button in the Knowledge list. Click it and the button changes to [Needs review (N)], and the list shows only documents that need review. Open a document, then review the proposal in Foundry output and choose whether to apply it with the [Approve] or [Reject] button.
